"The Art of Storytelling:

How Wedding Photography

Tells Your Love Story"

Every wedding is a love story, and it's a love story that needs to be told!  To document a wedding; whether it be through photography or film is an art. Wedding photographers and film makers are hired for their skill in telling this story from the start of the day through to the end of the night. Their ability to select angles, lighting and direction helps showcase their wedding photography style through the finished product of photos and film.

Capturing candid moments and emotions that tell the story of the wedding day. The goal is to create a visual narrative of the day that tells the story of the couple's journey to marriage, showcasing their personalities and unique relationship. Getting to know your photographer through not only initial meetings but also engagement shoots or pre wedding shoots can help get you on the same page. This helps massively when it comes to telling your love story!.

Candid moments

As wedding photographers; It is about capturing the emotions of the day, the laughter, tears, and joy that make up a wedding day. We may use various techniques to tell the story, sequencing images to create a narrative, capturing the details and decor from the start of the day during bridal prep, or using creative lighting such as off camera flash to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the images and also finishing it off with a finished product as a wedding album or book. Even the layout of the wedding album and colours chosen can all add to the way the story is portrayed.

Through the lens

As wedding photographers will usually have around 3 or 4 lenses at their disposal. A macro lens for capturing all the little details, a zoom, a wide angle and several prime lenses for different looks during different parts of the day. Overall, wedding photography storytelling aims to create a beautiful and memorable collection of photographs that not only capture the events of the day but also tell the unique and personal love story of the couple. Storytelling is an ancient art form that has been used throughout history to share information, convey important messages, and entertain people.

Storytelling is an ancient art form that has been used throughout history to share information, convey important messages, and entertain people.

Here are some ways wedding photographers tell a story:

Pre-wedding consultation:

We meet with the couple before the wedding to discuss their vision, preferences, and expectations. This helps them understand the couple's story and plan their shots accordingly.

Capturing details:

We capture the details of the wedding day, such as the dress, rings, flowers, and decor, which help to set the tone and atmosphere of the wedding day.

Candid shots:

They take candid shots of the couple, their family, and friends, capturing the genuine emotions, interactions, and moments that make the wedding day unique and special.

Narrative flow:

We organize the images into a cohesive narrative flow, arranging the shots in a way that tells the story of the day, from the preparation to the ceremony to the reception.

Post-production:

We edit the images to enhance the mood, tone, and style of the story, adding finishing touches such as color grading, cropping, and retouching.
